August 25 Newsletter

 Dear Parents,

Welcome to Sandpoint Jr. Academy!!! Thank you for instilling your trust in us to educate your child.  We look forward to a wonderful year.  Just a couple of thoughts as we start the school year together; welcome!  We have a wonderful year planned, with an amazing group of faculty members. Family Fun Day is this Thursday!  This year, the weather reports show that Thursday is to be in the mid 80’s.  With this in mind, the faculty has put together an afternoon on the lake in lieu of running around on the field and being very hot, like we have done in the past!!  Please see attached permission slip for Thursday, this MUST be brought with your child!
FAMILY FUN DAY ON THE LAKE  INFORMATION!!!
When?  Tomorrow, Thursday, August 26
What time?  11:30 – 2:45 we will return to the school by 3:00
What’s needed? Bathing suit, (girls, please make sure your swimsuit is appropriate!!)     life jacket (Grades 1-4), beach towel and flip flops. If you do not have a life      jacket, we will see who can share! These are needed for boat rides, not for             swimming.
What’s happening?  We will be riding on boats, swimming in the lake and jumping off of
            innertubes!
Why?  It’s fun, let’s enjoy the sun! Also, it’s a great way to get to know one another      better!
How will we get to the lake?  Parents and teachers!
Whose boat will we be on?  The Suppé’s, Featherston’s, Dye’s, Timothy’s.
We will leave the school by 11:30 and return to school by 2:45, have popsicles, and go home!!
Please sign the permission slip and return this with your student tomorrow.
Any questions? Ask Mrs. Suppé.  610-9027

Besides wanting to welcome each of you to another school year, I want to get each of you acquainted with several things that we do at our school.  As most of you know, school begins at 8:00 a.m., our doors open at 7:30.  We recommend that your child be here by 7:45.  Teachers will be in their classrooms to greet you and your child.  This is the opportunity for your child to get their things put away, and to get ready for the school day.  The bell will ring at 7:55 as a warning that class will begin in 5 minutes, and ring again at 8:00 once school has started.  If your child arrives at school after the bell has rung they need to go to the office for a tardy slip.  Our attendance policy has changed!  All will be explained at Back to School Night.  Students that arrive before 7:45 will be asked to sit and wait in the lobby.  Teachers are in staff worship from 7:30 – 7:45.

Every Friday (new day) a school newsletter will be sent home.  In the school newsletter will be upcoming events, classroom info and other truly important, riveting information!  You can also find out about any upcoming events by looking at the bulleting board in the hallway outside of the office. All newsletters, school events and hot lunch menus will be posted on our school website, www.sjasda.org by Friday. Also to be sent on Fridays will be our new attendance records, and also a weekly grade report for their classes.

This will be further explained to parents at Open House on Tuesday, September 7.  We will pass our school handbooks and explain our new attendance policy.  Open House begins at 6:30, and will end by 7:30, with plenty of time left over to have some family time at home!!

School will be dismissed at 3:10.  Students will check out with their home room teacher.  They need to let their teacher know if they are going with a parent, or approved adult, walking or riding their bike.  Please make sure they check out before you take them.  This is for their safety, and for the teachers’ peace of mind!!

We have several parents who have asked about parent participation opportunities.  This will also be listed weekly in the newsletter, and discussed at Open House.  Currently we have several projects available.

On behalf of the faculty and staff, we are very excited about this school year, and very pleased that you have chosen to be a part of our SJA school family.  You are always in our prayers, please keep us in yours!!
